Join chef and food photographer Isaac Tang for a beginner’s introduction to food photography class exploring how food composition and settings can elevate the look of food.
Through practical examples and live styling demonstrations, Isaac will share techniques for creating appetizing food scenes.
Styling for photography and video: Explore how to prepare and arrange food for still images and moving shots.
Working with lighting: how light direction, softness, and shadows shape the appearance of food.
Creating a cohesive scene: Bring together plates, props, backgrounds, and food placement to create a moment.
Live styling demonstrations: Follow Isaac’s process as he builds and refines setups, explaining the choices behind the looks. Ideal for beginners, content creators, and photographers looking to learn more about food.
Sony Specialist will be on hand for live product demonstration and for you to see some of the latest Sony gear.
Isaac Tang began his culinary journey at the age of 15, building over 20 years of experience from small diners to Michelin-level kitchens. His career includes working in Vancouver alongside acclaimed chefs at restaurants such as Market by Jean-Georges, led by the internationally renowned three-Michelin-star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
After moving to Toronto, Isaac continued his work in luxury hotels such as the BOSK at Shangri-La and fine dining restaurants while travelling internationally through culinary destinations including Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, and Hong Kong. From crafting tasting menus to capturing the artistry behind food, his creative path evolved from the kitchen into visual storytelling.
Today, Isaac works with the Bocuse d'Or Team Canada as a culinary photographer, filmmaker, and documentarian, using his lens to tell the stories of chefs, cuisine, and the culture surrounding them.

Camera Quickstart is a focused 2.5-hour class designed to help DSLR and mirrorless interchangeable lens camera owners understand the controls that matter most and start using their cameras with more confidence.
You’ll learn how to set up your camera properly, understand focus controls, learn the vital controls that affect light gathering such as ISO, and control exposure (brightness) when the camera doesn’t get it quite right. We’ll also cover essential menu settings, colour control with white balance, common beginner mistakes, and the settings that make your camera easier and more enjoyable to use.
This class is ideal for new camera owners or anyone ready to move beyond fully automatic shooting without being overwhelmed by technical jargon.
Bring your interchangeable lens camera and leave with a better understanding of how it works, how to control it, and what to practice next.
One 2.5-hour in-person session. No previous photography experience required.

Camera School is thrilled to be able to offer its in-depth multi week Photo 101 course offering on Sundays or Wednesdays at Henry’s Toronto. This course is the perfect solution for getting your camera set up for success and learning all of the core photography fundamentals that every photographer should know.
This course is designed exclusively for owners of DSLR or mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. You’ll get plenty of hands-on and great student notes to aid in your progress (homework assignments too!). Please note the dates as your course registration fee includes access to all four weeks of the event!
